🍃Donkey Mountain (Middle/NorthEast) Adventure🍃

Donkey Mountain stands majestically tall in the Wolgan Valley surrounded by the spectacular cliffs of the Greater Blue Mountains. It is one of the few mountains in the Greater Blue Mountains area that stands alone from a range and involves summiting from the base. Join Hikeandseek on a challenging day out hiking the majestic Donkey Mountain (recently reopened after the 2019/2020 Summer Fires) and see the picturesque Wolgan Valley from a unique perspective. The Donkey Mountain summit is on a kilometre long plateau and this tour will only take you to the Western end of the mountain. Overgrowth and walking conditions have grown more of a wilderness after two years of closure so participants are to expect a tough walk and scramble.

THIS TOUR COMPLEMENTS THE DONKEY MOUNTAIN (WESTERN SIDE) TOUR AND VENTURES TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. NOTE THAT THIS DAY IS TOUGHER IN DIFFICULTY THAN DONKEY MOUNTAIN (WEST SIDE) TOUR - FOR THOSE WHO HAVE JOINED THE WEST SIDE TOUR PREVIOUSLY.

Experience a myriad of scrambles, canyons, caves, tunnels as well as pristine lookouts on the Mid/North Eastern side of Donkey Mountain. The Western summit of Donkey Mountain will not be visited on this day.

TRAVELLING TO DONKEY MOUNTAIN

Donkey Mountain is approximately 2.5 hours from Sydney and a meeting location will be confirmed with participants. Transport must be arranged individually and no public transport is available to Donkey Mountain.

FITNESS REQUIRED:
A sound (moderate level) level of fitness is required for this hike as a 350m ascent is involved with tough inclines and scrambles in some instances. There are no trails on offer to the summit and multiple challenges may be faced. Although not the most physically demanding hike (around 6km walked over the day), there is a high degree of technical ability required for the day.
* This hike is not well suited for first time hikers or beginners and requires participants to be self-sufficient and able to look after their own safety at all times. Please enquire further about suitability for this walk. *

DONKEY MOUNTAIN

Donkey Mountain is a beautiful stand alone mountain in the majestic Wolgan Valley. With many prior guided tours up Donkey Mountain, Hikeandseek is happy to be able to guide people up Donkey Mountain again after two years of closures due to the deadly 2019/2020 Black Summer fires. The Donkey Mountain plateau is home to an amazing consortium of caves, tunnels, lookouts, canyons and beyond and for most, a single day is not enough to adventure to even half of what the mountain has to offer. On this particular day we will be hiking up to the west side of the mountain. Majestic views and an adventure are a definite and a challenge awaits.

🌄Meeting Time and Location: approx 7:45am at Lithgow (Meeting Location and time confirmation in follow up itinerary 3 days before event)

⏰Finish Time and Location: Approximately 3:00-3:30pm Base of Donkey Mountain (4:00pm Lithgow)

⏱Actual Hike Length: Approximately 6 Hours

None around Donkey Mountain until a small amount of reception possibly at the summit of the mountain

· Food and snacks for the day including lunch (Resting time will be given to have meals and snacks, alternatively this can also be purchased at Lithgow before meeting)

· Small Backpack

· Sturdy Hiking Shoes, Sturdy enclosed outdoor shoes recommended

· Minimum 2 Litres of Water

· Camera (Phone)

· Optional Hiking Poles and Gaiters

· Please let at least one other person know of your rough whereabouts for the trip.
