WHo am i

Hello there! A little bit about me.

My name is Dan aka Hikeandseek, your friendly adventure guide.

I’m born and raised in Sydney, Australia as a second generation Australian with South Korean heritage.

I’ve been hiking consistently since 2013 around Greater Sydney and travelling around Australia to see more of what this beautiful country has to offer. From these ever-growing experiences, the desire to guide other like-minded people to see these beautiful sights grew.

I’d like to share my experiences and knowledge with you. Who knows? I’ll probably have a little bit to learn from your experience too!

I will be your adventure guide and and itinerary provider for all things nature and outdoors in and around Greater Sydney, with different types of tours catering for most levels of experience and fitness. Hikeandseek wishes to provide adventurers with a unique opportunity to experience nature and lesser seen sights beyond what you may experience from your common scenic tour guide.

My Mission

  • HIKE WITH MINIMAL TRACE, SEEK THE DEPTHS OF NATURE’S GRACE

  • RESPECT THE TRADITIONAL OWNERS AND THE LANDS WE WALK UPON

  • PROVIDE TOURS THAT PROVIDE A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE

  • MAINTAIN RESPECT FOR EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE AROUND YOU

  • PROMOTE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS OVER IGNORANCE AND SECRECY

  • ENSURE SAFE PRACTICES WHERE POSSIBLE

  • DO OUR BIT TO HELP PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT

My mission is to provide an intimate and memorable experience during your time in nature. Tours with Hikeandseek mean you will be guided by me and the mission I hope to achieve from these tours will be consistent. I hope participants will be able to form a greater appreciation for nature in all forms whilst seeing fantastic views and interacting with flora and fauna in a mindful manner. I also like to place emphasis on the preservation and sustainability of Australian(NSW) Parks and education where possible. It is not a matter of ignorance or secrecy that will protect our beautiful nature in the distant future but education and action on its conservation that will sustain this beautiful world of ours for centuries to come.

Australia is a beautiful country, so vast and huge amounts of untouched land and nature to venture to. Being a resident of this abundant land has led to my firm belief that I must see as much of it in my lifetime. In doing this, I also want to share this with everybody.

With the assistance of my guides and time together with you I hope to share more of the beautiful nature regardless of your previous experience of venturing into the outdoors. A visit to nature and experiencing its beauty should be available to everyone as long as one learns to respect his/her surrounding environment.

Through my numerous visits around Australia I have also been able to experience and learn more about Aboriginal heritage and culture as Traditional Owners of Australia and this has been an enlightening experience which has often influenced the way in which I think about this land we walk upon. I believe in conducting tours in a manner in which will respect and recognize the traditions and culture of Aboriginal people. Their willingness to share their knowledge, stories and lands with everyone is a great treasure to us.

The power of social media has led to many popular spots being overshot, overrun and ‘evidently’ ruined for ages to come, and has often led me to rethink my position on lending guides and bringing out these gorgeous places to the world. However much we may want to think about it, this world is ours to share and not any one person’s belongings. I truly believe the preservation of this world and its nature is not the secrecy of just a few special places but the education of many, for what is the point of ruining 99% of the world to save just a few hidden places.

Having a local hidden gem ruined by litter and destruction comes down to people’s attitudes, and it is this that needs to be addressed. Preserving just one location in the hope of saving it for a few doesn’t stop the destruction of the world as a whole.

I hope that my guides, adventures and experiences can help build people’s appreciation for the good of what surrounds us and in turn create a budding network that will extend to the whole world for the good practices of all people to help preserve Mother Earth
