The walk includes some basic scrambling, plenty of elevation and a whole lot of walking through secluded bush. Learn more about the beautiful geological formations and flora and fauna that thrive in this area. You’ll feel as if you were transported back to the time of dinosaurs as you walk amongst the ferns.

TRAVELLING TO MUGII MURUM-BAN STATE CONSERVATION AREA

Mugii Murum-Ban SCA is approximately 3 hours drive from Sydney city. There will only be a quick toilet/convenience pit stop along the way and participants are required to pack for the 11-12 hour journey including transportation.

FITNESS REQUIRED:
A moderate - high level of fitness is required for this hike as a 300m ascent is involved with inclines and scrambles in some instances. There is some off trail walking on offer . Although the climb itself is not the most physically demanding there is a requirement for participants to be willing to encounter overgrowth scrub and other inhabitants of the Australian bush.
* This hike is not well suited for first time hikers or beginners and requires participants to be comfortable with exposures to heights. Please enquire further about suitability for this walk if unsure. *

VALLEY OF THE DINOSAURS/ULTIMATE SLOT CANYON

After the steep ascent into and amongst the stunning pagodas of the Mugii Murum-Ban SCA, we will venture into the Ultimate Slot and the valley/canyon floor of the Valley of the Dinosaurs. Along with the multitude of ferns that line the valley floor, be captivated by the other-worldly sights of this beautiful area.

· Food and snacks for the day including lunch (Resting time will be given to have meals and snacks, alternatively this can also be purchased at Lithgow at our pitstop)

· Small Backpack

· Sturdy Hiking Shoes, Sturdy enclosed outdoor shoes recommended

· Minimum 2-3 Litres of Water

· Camera (Phone)

· Optional Hiking Poles and Gaiters (may be useful not only for snake protection but other scrubs)

· Please let at least one other person know of your rough whereabouts for the trip.

· In light of the times, Hand Sanitizer

· Light warm jacket – for those more prone to cold – a cold morning can be expected.

· Optional gloves to help grab rocks/scrambles and brush unwanted vegetation
